Olympique de Marseille are close to signing Quinten Timber from Feyenoord, with negotiations between the clubs at an advanced stage.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Marseille have reached a verbal agreement with the 23-year-old, and that talks over the fee are ongoing. The price is expected to be relatively low as Timber is entering the final year of his contract.
Timber’s situation has deteriorated in recent weeks after a reported fallout with head coach Robin van Persie. He has been stripped of the captain’s armband, which has accelerated a likely exit from the Eredivisie side.
Primarily used as a defensive midfielder, Timber joined Feyenoord from Ajax in 2022 and quickly became an important figure. He is noted for his athleticism, ball carrying and defensive awareness.
Timber is the twin brother of Jurrien Timber, who currently plays for Arsenal.
