PSG face off against Manchester United on Wednesday night in the Champions League and Mary Earps is set for what could be a frosty reception when she plays her former team.
Earps has been at the centre of a controversial saga with Hannah Hampton lately following the recent release of her book.
Speaking ahead of her return to Manchester this week, Earps has admitted that she is expecting to be met with boos from the home supporters.
“I’m probably expecting a little booing.” Earps said.
“I hope it’s a little bit, but it might be a lot. A few of the fans have come out to support me at PSG, but Manchester United is their number one team. I understand that.”
Earps may already have been booed by fans after leaving the club in 2024 but it is the release of her autobiography that could cause a stir at Old Trafford.
The former England number one held nothing back in her self titled book and various former teammates and managers caught strays in what was a tell-all of her career so far.
With United playing at Old Trafford in the Champions League for the first time in their history, the atmosphere is sure to be eclectic and the boos for Earps may drown out the cheers.
Despite Earps expecting boos on Wednesday night, United boss Marc Skinner defended his former goalkeeper and her new book release ahead of the game.
After their first two games in the Champions League, United have remained perfect so far.
The Red Devils beat Valerenga 1-0 in their first game with Maya Le Tissier scoring a historic goal from the spot in their 1-0 win.
United then faced much tougher opposition in Atletico Madrid. Despite being reduced to 10 players early on, United held on for another one goal victory with Firdolina Rolfo scoring the only goal of the game and her first for the club.
PSG will be a similar test to Atletico Madrid, but with United playing at Old Trafford in the competition for a first time, the fans could carry them over the line on Wednesday.
