The Premier League have confirmed the latest team of match officials to be appointed onto a Manchester City fixture this season.

Pep Guardiola and his players will be aiming to respond to Arsenal’s statement 1-4 win away at North London rivals Tottenham with a victory of their own when they take on Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s had Manchester City breathing down their necks come kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a 2-1 win over Newcastle moving the Sky Blue outfit to within two points of the Gunners.

With Arsenal currently five points ahead having played an additional game on their title rivals, City know they will need to react with another victory to stay within just touching distance of the North London club and keep the direction of the top-flight crown in their hands.

But the challenge of an away trip to face Daniel Farke’s squad is far from a foregone conclusion. Leeds United find themselves in a confident run of form, unbeaten in their last four matches and taking points away at Chelsea and Aston Villa.

And ahead of the meeting between Leeds United and Manchester City, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at Elland Road!

Match Referee

The Premier League have confirmed this week that referee Peter Bankes will oversee proceedings from the lead on-field officiating role at Elland Road for Leeds United against Manchester City.

The Merseyside official has taken charge of 20 matches across competitions this season, with 19 of those coming in the Premier League and the only outstanding match taking place in the Carabao Cup.

Across his 20 fixtures to date, Bankes has issued a total of 79 yellow cards with a further caution leading to a dismissal, two direct red cards, and awarding five penalty-kicks in the process.

In his professional officiating career, Peter Bankes has overseen Manchester City on 11 occasions, with just five of those matches ending in a victory for the Blues, a further five ending in defeat, and a singular draw.

Bankes has overseen Manchester City on two occasions already this season; the 0-2 home defeat to Tottenham in August, as well as the reverse fixture between this weekend’s two sides which resulted in a narrow 3-2 win for Pep Guardiola’s squad at the Etihad Stadium in late November.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Peter Bankes at Leeds’ Elland Road this weekend will be Edward Smart and Blake Antrobus, who have been appointed by the Premier League into the roles of assistant referees.

Video Assistant Referees

Watching Leeds United against Manchester City from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park will be the game’s Video Assistant Referee Paul Howard, sitting alongside Assistant Video Assistant Referee Sian Massey-Ellis.

Fourth Official

Standing between the two dugouts at Elland Road and managing events involving Leeds’ Daniel Farke and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola will be referee Oliver Langford, in the role of fourth official.
