Brentford Under-21s travel to Crewe Alexandra on Monday afternoon in the Under-21s Professional Development League (12pm kick-off).

The fixture will be played at Crewe Academy Training Ground.

Brentford currently sit seventh in the revamped PDL format, with seven points after four games.

Having started with a draw against Hull City on the opening day, followed by a loss to Sheffield United, the young Bees have started to find their feet in the division.

Sam Saunders knows that despite a good streak of results, Crewe will provide a real test for the his side.

"We've spoken about bodies getting back fit and there is competition for places," he explained.

"Naturally, then the intensity of training goes up and we can see that in the last couple of performances that have been really strong.

"We won on the road at Huddersfield recently and the boys have been preparing properly.

"We saw Crewe draw against Charlton in a really tight game and we know how good Charlton are as a side, so it's going to be a tough test and we will have to be at our best."

Last Time Out

The Bees have recorded consecutive wins after they backed up a 2-1 success at Huddersfield with a confident 4-0 victory at home to Wigan on Tuesday.

Midfielder Andre Grey was on target twice, whilst Myles Peart-Harris and Romelle Donovan both got on the scoresheet.

Vitaly Janelt also featured in the game, returning to action and playing the entirety of the first half.

Speaking after the game, Saunders said: "We were clinical with our finishing and the result didn’t flatter us. The longer the game went on, the more spaces opened up, and we made the most of it – it was a really pleasing afternoon for the group.

"The support from the first team has been tremendous. We talk regularly with the staff, and the boys who dropped down to play minutes today showed great leadership."
