Matheus Bidu has thanked the Fiel for their backing and says playing for Brazil remains a dream, with some calling for a pre-World Cup look.

“I have been working to deliver my best football to wear the Brazil shirt. It is a dream, I hope one day it can become reality. I keep my feet on the ground, will keep working and, God willing, stay at this level. I can only thank people for the praise,” he told R7 after the 1-0 win over Athletico-PR on Thursday.

Bidu’s rise caps a redemption arc at Corinthians. Signed in 2023 from Cruzeiro after impressing on loan at Guarani, he alternated between starts and the bench until Dorival Júnior arrived in April 2025, when he secured the role and helped win that year’s Copa do Brasil.

In 2026 the number 21 has maintained his level as an undisputed starter. He has one goal this season and was influential in the Supercopa do Brasil, a 2-0 win over Flamengo earlier this month.

Brazil’s next squad is due on 16 March for friendlies with France on 26 and Croatia on 31. With left-back still unsettled and coach Carlo Ancelotti assessing options, anticipation is building. At present, only goalkeeper Hugo Souza has been called up.
