Corinthians could face a first this season on Thursday if Matheus Bidu misses out against Athletico Paranaense, as the left-back has not sat out consecutive matches for more than a year.

Now first choice on the left, Bidu sat out Sunday’s match with Bahia because of pain in the pubic area and did not travel to Salvador.

According to ge.globo, the 27-year-old worked indoors at CT Joaquim Grava and did not train with the group on Tuesday, the penultimate session before the fixture.

The last time he missed successive games was in May last year, when he was only a substitute for 1-0 wins over Novorizontino in the Copa do Brasil and Santos in the Brasileirão, both at Neo Química Arena.

If he is absent again, Fernando Diniz has a selection puzzle. Fabrizio Angileri, who covered at Arena Fonte Nova, is suspended for yellow-card accumulation, while Hugo Farias remains in physical transition after knee surgery. Right-back Pedro Milans, who replaced Angileri in the second half, could be improvised on the left.

Since the second half of 2025, Bidu has edged Angileri to cement the role. This season he has 33 appearances, 30 as a starter, with two goals and two assists.

Corinthians host Athletico on Thursday at 19:30 at Neo Química Arena in the 21st round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
