Bogey side Brighton and Hove Albion were swept aside by Manchester United 4-2 in their Premier League game at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Referee Anthony Taylor tried his best to help the Seagulls continue their winning run against the Red Devils, overlooking two obvious penalty calls from the home side.

But his attempts at frustrating United did not last long as summer signing Matheus Cunha finally opened his account for his new side with a stunning long-range effort.

Fellow Brazilian, Casemiro got one while Bryan Mbeumo netted twice but it was delightful to see the ex-Wolves forward finally end his goal drought.

Matheus Cunha finally breaks his duck

Despite having no goals and assists till now, the 26-year-old has arguably been one of the standout performers for the team this term.

He could have broken his duck earlier, but his strike against Fulham had struck the post, while plenty of his rasping drives has been kept out by opposition keepers.

Apart from his goal, the Brazil international was a joy to watch with the ball, as he maneuvered past challenges with ease with the ball struck to his foot.

He completed two dribbles, and also had two shots on target. Not only that, but the versatile attacker also made two key passes while providing three final third balls.

Relentless with and without the ball

Without the ball, Matheus Cunha was a non-stop pressing machine, completing nine defensive contributions. Her completed three tackles, one clearance and an interception.

Not only that but the United No.10 also recovered the ball four times, while winning two free-kicks due to his tenacity (all stats via fotmob).

Hopefully, Saturday’s goal will give him confidence and now, the floodgates will truly open in the games to come.

United have now notched three wins on the bounce and Ruben Amorim will be demanding more of the same before the November international break.
