Manchester United will complete a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ forward Matheus Cunha next week, according to Sky Sports.

The report claims Cunha is “set to join” the Red Devils at the end of the season with the last round of Premier League fixtures taking place this weekend.

The Brazilian’s contract at Molineux contains a £62.5 million release clause which Sky Sports reveals United are “expected to trigger” and the “club are aware of the conditions for that clause to be met”.

This confirms a report relayed by The Peoples Person earlier today that a deal was about to be struck between the two Premier League clubs.

Cunha is reported to be keen on the switch to Old Trafford and is undeterred by the prospect of United not competing in any European competition next season.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Newcastle United had also been interested in the 25-year-old forward, who has scored 15 goals and provided six assists for his side this season.

There was also considerable interest from the Saudi Pro League who are focusing on securing younger talent after hoovering up ‘big name’ players at the tail end of their careers from Europe in recent years.

But it appears Cunha’s heart and eyes were solely focused on a switch to Old Trafford with Ruben Amorim believed to be a big fan of the explosive forward.

Sky Sports reveals there has still been “no direct contact yet between United and Wolves but those formalities are anticipated once the season has closed.”

The report states, “despite interest from other clubs, Cunha wants to play for United and Sky Sports News has been told the deal is almost agreed.”

Often, high-profile transfers can largely be negotiated through intermediaries without face-to-face talks between clubs.

And it appears this is the case for Cunha who is set to become United’s first signing of a pivotal transfer window this summer.
