Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha impressed again for Brazil in the group stage.
The Brazilian was coming off an impressive debut season at Old Trafford.
Cunha started on the bench in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Morocco to begin the tournament. He did get a call-up to the starting eleven and soon repaid Carlo Ancelotti with a first-half double against Haiti.
The United attacker was menacing again against Scotland in the final group game.
Just before the hour mark, Bruno Guimarães broke free and released the ball to Cunha, who made no mistake, sliding the ball past Angus Gunn in the Scottish goal.
It was Cunha’s third goal of the tournament as Brazil booked their place in the last 32 and finished top of Group C, ahead of Morocco on goal difference.
Cunha was busy throughout the match as he had a total of five shots on goal during his 75 minutes on the pitch.
Two of those efforts were saved, including one cleared off the line in the first half.
The forward also won both his dribble attempts and completed one key pass during his time on the pitch.
The United attacker also completed 92% of his passing attempts.
The 27-year-old has impressed many at United with his defensive work, and that has continued for his national team.
Cunha won all three of his ground duels and two of his three aerial contests.
He also helped his side to a clean sheet with one interception and two clearances for the Brazilians.
Cunha and Brazil will now await their last 32 opponent and are scheduled to play on Monday, 29th June.
