Corinthians have discovered their 2026 Copa Libertadores opponents, and Matheus Pereira says attention stays on Sunday’s meeting with Flamengo.
According to Meu Timao, Corinthians were drawn in Group E with Peñarol of Uruguay, Santa Fé of Colombia and Platense of Argentina. They begin on 9 April, a Thursday, away to Platense at 21:00 at the Coliseo de Victoria, with the final group game on 27 May at Neo Química Arena.
Speaking after the draw with Chapecoense, Pereira acknowledged the group but stressed that the priority is the Brasileiro fixture first. He noted the Libertadores’ importance to the club and squad, and said it is about delivering their best.
Corinthians face Flamengo at Casa do Povo on Sunday at 20:30, aiming to halt a poor run. Their last win came on 19 February against Athletico Paranaense.
Pereira called it a clássico and said pressure is part of playing for Corinthians. He added they have about 72 hours, he thought, to prepare and must treat the match like a final.
The sides have already contested silverware in 2026, with Corinthians beating Flamengo 2-0 on 1 February to lift the Supercopa Rei. Gabriel Paulista and Yuri Alberto scored.
