Matriciani, who was loaned to third-division club Waldhof Mannheim last season, has a contract until 2026 and wants to fulfill it.

The main reason behind this is his hefty salary, which the 25-year-old probably wouldn't earn anywhere else in this form.

His cult status from the Gelsenkirchen club's 2022-23 relegation season and aging physical appearance also plays a role.

In the last campaign, the German made 33 appearances while providing a goal and an assist for Waldhof Mannheim in the 3.Liga.
