According to a report from L’Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvei Safonov (26) has open the door to a potential departure from the Parc des Princes. Signed in June 2024, the Russian international stopper has found himself on the bench for most of his time in the French capital and would be willing to depart for more first-team opportunities.
Safonov has made 17 appearances since he joined the Ligue 1 champions from Krasnodar. These all came last season during Luis Enrique’s treble-winning success. However, whether it be Gianluigi Donnarumma or Lucas Chevalier between the posts, the 26-year-old has been seen as the second choice by the former Barcelona head coach.
With the PSG goalkeeper willing to leave the UEFA Champions League winners, clubs in his homeland are on high alert over a potential transfer. As first reported by local media in Russia and now confirmed by L’Équipe, several clubs would be interested in bringing the goalkeeper back to play in the Russian Premier League.
