Only last autumn, aged 15, he was tormenting Bayern Munich’s under-19s in the Youth League, looking far beyond his years.

Mikel Arteta called it a rare feat in such a moment, and he urged everyone to keep calm and savour it.

Born on 31 December 2009, Dowman cannot yet drive or drink in England. He has developed early physically, which has enabled him to play above his age group.

For now, the teenager is still floating, enjoying the moment.
