The Paris Saint-Germain forward enjoyed the best campaign of his career in 2024/25, scoring 35 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions.

The 28-year-old inspired PSG to a historic season, as Luis Enrique’s side won a quadruple. In addition to a clean sweep of France’s domestic trophies, PSG won a maiden Champions League title after thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in a record-breaking final.

Lamine Yamal, Vitinha, Raphinha and Mohamed Salah are among the other names in consideration for the prize, but Mbappe believes his compatriot deserves to be named the world’s finest footballer. He also expressed hope that former PSG teammate Achraf Hakimi earns plenty of votes.

“Ousmane deserves it, I have supported him from the beginning,” Mbappe told Telefoot.

“If it was up to me, I would bring him the trophy directly to his home! I hope (Achraf) Hakimi will be ranked up there too.”
