Memphis Depay has accepted a pay cut as contract renewal talks with Corinthians pick up again, with 11 days left on his deal.
According to Globo.com, the 32-year-old has agreed to other club terms too, and his representatives think a positive resolution could arrive in the coming days.
Negotiations drifted in the break, with offers and counter-offers failing to align. Corinthians made a June proposal to finish before the World Cup, but talks cooled after the Netherlands’ exit as Memphis paused discussions.
With talks resumed, Corinthians intensified contact, aware that losing Memphis would weaken a squad unlikely to be reinforced this window. They cannot register new players due to three transfer bans, two from FIFA and one from the CBF.
The deal is not done and there remains a chance he does not return to CT Joaquim Grava. Further meetings in the coming days are set to address final details.
Corinthians have until 31 July, when his contract expires, to formalise and register a new agreement through mid-2028. If they do not, the bans would block registration and he could not play officially until they are lifted.
The No 10 is out for Fernando Diniz for Thursday’s game against Remo at 19:30 Brasília time at Neo Química Arena in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
