According to Meu Timao, Memphis Depay’s Corinthians deal expires on Friday 31, but renewal talks are advanced, with draft contracts already being exchanged. There is a verbal agreement and he will return to Brazil for medicals before signing.
A post-31 signature is not seen as an obstacle. In January the CBF allowed renewals of current players to be registered despite FIFA transfer bans, a precedent that applies here, with the new term running until mid-2028.
Fernando Diniz said he kept in touch with Depay during and after the World Cup and called his stay a major gain, but stressed nothing is final even as talks move positively.
Depay’s camp initially sought three seasons, but a two-year extension was accepted. He agreed to reduced wages and the club will end payments for housing and security, with president Osmar Stabile citing hotel costs of about R$ 250,000 a month.
Commercial add-ons were proposed, and one is set as he will front Ezze Seguros, a club sponsor.
Depay last played on 25 June in the Netherlands’ 3-1 World Cup win over Tunisia, then was eliminated by Morocco. He will undergo routine interseason tests and, having kept fit, could be available soon after signing and registration.
If his progress is confirmed, he could get more minutes against Internacional in the Copa do Brasil last 16 in Itaquera on 6 August. In 2026 he has 14 appearances for Corinthians, with one goal and one assist.
