Memphis Depay faces disciplinary action after using his phone on the bench during Corinthians’ Brasileirão match against Flamengo.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the forward took out his mobile while seated among the substitutes, behaviour that the CBF bans in the technical area during games.

Corinthians’ coaching staff saw it and immediately reprimanded the striker. Depay then put the device in his trousers and resumed watching the match with his team-mates.

Sanctions for such offences include fines from R$ 100 to R$ 100,000, and he could be banned for up to six matches.

There is precedent. In 2018, goalkeeper Santos, then at Athletico-PR, used his phone during a match and was given a one-match suspension by the CBF.
