Corinthians visit Santos at Vila Belmiro on Thursday at 19:30 in the Campeonato Paulista, and Memphis Depay will not feature. According to Meu Timao, head coach Dorival Júnior has confirmed the forward’s absence, which will equal his longest spell out for the club, four matches.
That previous run came between September and October 2025. He started the 2-0 win over Athletico-PR in the Copa do Brasil quarter-final second leg at Neo Química Arena, then went off in the first half with pain in his right thigh.
Days later, tests showed no injury, only oedema. Even so, he missed four league games against Fluminense, Sport, Flamengo and Internacional in 2025, before returning on 4 October as Corinthians beat Mirassol 3-0 at Casa do Povo. He came off the bench for the closing minutes.
Depay has yet to play in 2026 and has been on a muscle-strengthening programme since pre-season began. He featured through the closing stages of last season, notably in the Copa do Brasil finals, when he scored the title-winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Vasco da Gama.
He has already missed games against Ponte Preta, Bragantino and São Paulo, and will also be absent for Santos. No forward has scored for Corinthians this year, with all four of the team’s 2026 goals coming from elsewhere. Depay has 19 goals and 15 assists in 56 appearances, and won the Paulista and Copa do Brasil in 2025.
