Memphis enters Corinthians’ select scorers list after strike in 1-1 at Santos | OneFootball

Memphis entered a select Corinthians scorers list on Sunday, his 18th-minute opener in a 1-1 draw at Santos keeping the team in the top half on eight points.

According to Meu Timao, it was his first goal against Santos, completing his set versus Palmeiras, São Paulo and Santos. The Dutch forward finished a counter started by André and worked through Kaio César, cutting in from the left as the number 10 before beating Gabriel Brazão.

Memphis first struck against Palmeiras in the Copa do Brasil on 30 July last year, a 1-0 win for Corinthians. He then scored against São Paulo in the league on 20 November, a 3-1 victory. Sunday’s effort away to Santos completed the trio, also in the league.

He is the 21st Corinthians player to achieve the feat in this century, joining Romero, Jadson, Jô, Ronaldo, Liedson, Guerrero, Paulinho, Emerson Sheik and Danilo. Marcelinho also scored against all three, though most of his goals came before 2000.

The strike ended his barren run this season, having not scored until now.

Corinthians visit Chapecoense at Arena Condá in Santa Catarina on Thursday at 21:30, again in the Brasileirão.
