Memphis Depay enters the final month of his Corinthians contract on 20 June 2026, with no renewal and his future after the World Cup in doubt.
According to Meu Timao, Corinthians sought partners to cover 100% of his wages in commercial tie-ups, and Memphis wants to stay on reduced terms, yet talks have stalled.
Esportes da Sorte, the main sponsor, is not expected to help fund a new deal. It had initially signalled willingness during his arrival, but there has been no progress.
His September 2024 contract carries signing-on, performance bonuses, wages and image rights worth about R$ 3 million a month. After this year’s sponsorship renewal, roughly R$ 57 million stopped being directed solely to his pay, and an estimated R$ 40 million in bonuses is still owed.
Corinthians may let talks run into the World Cup, when he could play without a club. He is out of Thursday’s Libertadores game against Peñarol with a grade two right thigh injury and a recent calf issue.
Four matches remain before the deal ends, but he is already ruled out of Peñarol. Atlético-MG on Sunday and Platense on Wednesday, 27 May, are next, while the 30 May trip to Grêmio clashes with the Netherlands’ report date. He has yet to feature under Fernando Diniz and has been sidelined for 145 days.
