Also vying for the award is Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola, Sunderland's Regis Le Bris and Brentford's Keith Andrews.

Arteta is also among the favourites for the award, with Arsenal on the brink of lifting their first Premier League title in 22 years.

Arsenal are two points ahead of rivals Manchester City with two games to play following the latter’s 3-0 win at home to Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

Carrick has steadied the ship at United after succeeding Ruben Amorim in January on a short-term deal, and has secured qualification for the Champions League for the first time since 2023. He is now expected to sign a long-term contract at Old Trafford.

Andrews has impressed many at Brentford, who were widely tipped to be relegated when the former set-piece coach, in his first managerial role, took charge last summer following the departure of the long-standing Thomas Frank to Tottenham.

But despite also losing star forward Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa and captain Christian Norgaard, Andrews has Brentford two points outside the European places.

Iraola, who has announced he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, has Bournemouth in pole position to qualify for Europe for the first time in their history, while Le Bris has steered Sunderland to safety in their first season back in the Premier League in nine years.

The winner will be announced on Monday, May 18, when the supporters’ poll will be added to the opinions of a panel of experts to determine the winner.
