Middlesbrough have been told to make a decision on the future of one of their players

Preparations are well underway at Middlesbrough for the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
The North East outfit have a new boss in the form of Rob Edwards, following the departure of Michael Carrick, with the ultimate goal for next season being promotion once more.
Boro are yet to complete any transfers this summer, with Josh Coburn, Anfernee Dijksteel and George Gitau leaving the Riverside.
Furthermore, the likes of Ben Doak, Samuel Iling-Junior, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ryan Giles have also returned to their parent clubs following loan spells.
Football League World’s Middlesbrough fan pundit, Liam Day, has highlighted one specific member in the current Boro crop that could do with their own temporary spell away from the club.
"A player of ours that needs to go out on loan is Micah Hamilton," stated Liam. "He was actually on loan last season but didn’t get to play.
"He came in with such hype around him, but it was always seen as a longer-term project. Whenever he played, he just didn't seem up for it, he was still very inexperienced. I think that was pretty obvious.
"He went out to Stockport County on loan last season. He did not play at all though, so I don't know what team to send him out to, maybe a lower end League One club.
"As long as he gets game time, that's the most important thing for him right now. He's desperate for development and he needs it.
"There are a few younger players in the team but I feel like they're getting to the point, like Alex Gilbert, when they either need to leave permanently or make the breakthrough in the first team.
"But Hamilton's still only 21, so he's still got a bit of time. He's sort of edging towards an exit though, this season seems like a massive one for him. I feel like he just needs to get out, get game time because I do not think he'll get that with us."
Hamilton joined Boro last summer and came with a great deal of hype, due to his impressive performances whilst at Manchester City.
The 21-year-old scored in the Champions League for Pep Guardiola’s outfit, highlighting the obvious potential he possesses.
However, he failed to impress with both Middlesbrough and Stockport County last term, struggling to adapt to the physicality of the EFL and really show what he could do with either side.
The winger made just five appearances for the Hatters, which doesn’t bode well for his future at the Riverside.
It seems unlikely that Edwards would hand Hamilton a great deal of minutes based on these performances, which means that a loan deal seems to be the obvious option.
Another temporary switch to the third-tier would provide Boro’s talent with regular playing time, which is exactly what he needs at this point in his development.
Hamilton evidently enjoys huge potential, and he may need another change of scenery to help acclimatise to the EFL at a less competitive level.
