Four Championship clubs are all keen to take a new Tractor Boys signing on loan for the season

Ipswich Town have been busy in the transfer window thus far as they gear up for a second shot at the Premier League after securing automatic promotion last season.

The biggest change at Portman Road this summer was in the dugout, as triple promotion-winning manager Kieran McKenna stepped down from his role, and was replaced by former AFC Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Gary O'Neil.

The 43-year-old has been busy already in the transfer market, with players such as Abdul Fatawu and Issa Diop joining the Tractor Boys, alongside FC Volendam goalkeeper Kanye van Oevelen.

The Dutch stopper joined Ipswich following a lengthy stint at Kras Stadion, where he made 64 senior appearances, 33 of which came in the Eredivisie, the country's top flight.

Van Oevelen spoke of his excitement about joining the newly-promoted side for £3.4 million, as he looks to further his development in England, but he could spend his first season away from his new club, according to a fresh report.

After completing his move, van Oevelen became the fourth member of Ipswich's goalkeeping department, alongside Alex Palmer, Christian Walton, and David Button.

Whilst it's unclear which one of these will be the outright number one next season, if any, a new report indicates that it won't be the new signing who takes the gloves under O'Neil just yet.

According to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon page on Sunday morning, the Tractor Boys are ready to send Van Oevelen out on loan for the forthcoming season, as they believe he isn't ready for the Premier League.

Town are now reportedly keen to find a temporary home for the 22-year-old in the Championship, which will provide him with the experience he needs to establish himself as the club's number one next season.

Nixon suggests that Championship interest isn't sparse either, with Bolton Wanderers, Millwall, Wrexham, and Middlesbrough all named as potential suitors to take Van Oevelen on loan.

The four clubs are all in the hunt for a new first-choice goalkeeper, and have reportedly identified the Ipswich man as an ideal candidate to fill that role.

When it comes to picking van Oevelen's temporary home, Ipswich will likely want him to be playing for a Championship club that will be competing for promotion.

The Tractor Boys will be keen to retain their Premier League status this season, but should they succumb to the drop, they will know that the Dutchman will be ready to take the mantle as their first choice goalkeeper, given he would've had experience at the sharp end of the Championship.

With that in mind, Middlesbrough, Millwall and Wrexham would all likely be destinations where the Suffolk-based side would be keen to send van Oevelen, as they all have a strong chance of fighting for promotion.

Bolton have been impressive in the transfer window so far, but they might not have what it takes just yet to compete at the top of the division, although the 22-year-old could face more shots and showcase his ability more often at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

It will be interesting to see where van Oevelen ends up come the end of the transfer window and if he can kick on in English football, staking his claim on the number one spot at Portman Road.
