Midfielder progresses in recovery, starts physical work at Corinthians

The Corinthians held the penultimate training session on Monday morning before the match against Coritiba, for the fifth round of the Brazilian Championship. Coach Dorival Júnior had a new addition on the field at the Dr. Joaquim Grava training center.

Midfielder Matheus Pereira began the physical transition phase and is nearing a return to the field. The player is recovering from a muscle injury in his left thigh.

Although he has started the transition, Matheus is expected to miss the match against Coxa. On the other hand, the team is expected to have two returns: Yuri Alberto and Kaio César. The duo has been training normally after recovering from injuries.

Another possible new addition is Moroccan midfielder Zakaria Labyad, who may make his debut for Timão. Meanwhile, English forward Jesse Lingard has not yet been registered and is expected to be absent.

Midfielder Raniele, who was rested from some training sessions in recent days, worked on the field and is expected to be available.

Training Details

The players started the day by watching a video with tactical instructions in the briefing room. Then, they went to the field and worked on ball possession.

Coach Dorival Júnior also conducted a tactical activity of ten against ten, as well as rehearsing set pieces. Finally, the athletes improved their finishing.

Corinthians will conclude their preparation for the match against Coritiba on Tuesday morning. The match is scheduled for Wednesday at 9:30 PM (Brasília time) at the Neo Química Arena.

Timão had more than a week of training after being eliminated in the semifinals of the Paulistão. The alvinegro team is in third place in the Brasileirão standings, with seven points.
