Mikel Arteta says there is a chance Jurriën Timber could be available for Arsenal’s Champions League final against PSG on 30 May in Budapest.
The manager is currently without both right-backs. Ben White injured his right knee in Sunday’s 1-0 win over West Ham and is out for the rest of the season, while Timber suffered an ankle problem in mid-March. According to L'Équipe, Arteta said Timber has improved in recent days, feels better and that they will try to get him back, calling him very important and willing to help in any way.
Arteta stressed only that a return remains possible for the 24-year-old, without estimating how likely it is. He said Timber would try to do everything he can to make it. Timber has missed 12 matches since his injury.
If he is not ready, options include centre-back Cristhian Mosquera, 21, who has covered at right-back, or left-back Riccardo Calafiori, 23.
Arsenal sit top of the Premier League by two points from Manchester City. They host 19th-placed Burnley on Monday at 21:00 in matchweek 37, then finish at Crystal Palace on Sunday 24 May at 17:00, six days before contesting the second Champions League final in their history after 2006.
