Boro are keeping tabs on young winger after impressive loan spell

Standard Sport understands, though, that while the Championship side wants to bring Moore to the Riverside Stadium, the 18-year-old is believed to be holding out for a move to a club in Europe’s top five leagues.

Moore is currently out in Australia on Spurs’ pre-season tour, where he had hoped to catch the eye of Roberto De Zerbi.

The young winger has long been considered one of the club’s brightest academy prospects and impressed on loan at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers last season.

His performances at Ibrox subsequently earned him a place in De Zerbi’s 36-man travelling squad for Spurs’ pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia this summer.

Moore started the 2-0 win over Auckland FC at Eden Park last weekend but was left out of the squad that drew 1-1 with Sydney FC on Wednesday.

Spurs are in the market for a winger, with De Zerbi revealing on Friday that the club want to bring in two to three more players before the close of the transfer window.

Those comments came after the head coach admitted on Thursday that the club were close to sealing a move for a new attacking player.

This has left Moore’s future at the club uncertain, and De Zerbi has said he does not know whether the Englishman will be part of his plans for this season.

“We have to see,” he said.

“We have to analyse the last part of the transfer market, because we try to bring wingers, and then we speak with him, with his agent, with the club, to find the best solution for everyone.

Middlesbrough are not in pole position to secure Moore’s signature, but enjoy a strong relationship with Spurs after negotiating a £20million deal for striker Will Lankshear earlier this month.

They also hold an interest in centre-back Ashley Phillips, though a potential deal is believed to be complicated at this stage.

Boro are aiming for promotion to the Premier League this season after losing 1-0 to Hull City in the play-off final in May.
