A reporter who met with patron Gerry Cardinale warns ‘the worst is yet to come’ from the Milan restructuring, while it’s reported the club is in such chaos they risk missing the Serie A deadline.

The RedBird chief swept the board clean after their failure to qualify for the Champions League, sacking coach Max Allegri, director of sport Igli Tare, CEO Giorgio Furlani and technical director Geoffrey Moncada in one fell swoop.

None of those places have been filled yet, so there is nobody able to make decisions or even organise on the most basic level going into pre-season.

According to the Corriere della Sera, this created a bizarre situation where the Lega Serie A had to make a warning phone call, because Milan have until June 16 to file the paperwork to register for the new season.

Failure to do so can lead to expulsion from the league, although that is usually because the financial documentation doesn’t add up, rather than simply forgetting to file it.

Last week, RedBird patron Cardinale called just five select few journalists to explain his vision for the future, which many considered to be an attempt to get more positive media coverage.

However, it backfired because one of those involved had a harsh warning for the fans.

“If we didn’t go to talk to him, then we wouldn’t know what this guy had in mind,” revealed Sport Mediaset journalist Franco Ordine.

“Now we know and I can say the worst is yet to come. They don’t want Italians, because they have to speak English. They don’t need to know Italian football either.

“Seeing as there is hardly any money, because they’re out of the Champions League, I would do something crazy and go hire Alberto Aquilani.”

The coach is fresh from taking Catanzaro to the Serie B promotion play-off Final, losing narrowly to Monza.
