Milan are already laying the groundwork for their summer rebuild, and a new centre-back is high on the agenda.
One of the leading candidates is Lazio defender Mario Gila, with reports in Italy and Spain, via MilanNews, suggesting talks are progressing over a deal worth around €20m.
The Spaniard has impressed in Serie A with his composure in possession and ability to operate in a high defensive line, traits that fit well with the profile Milan are seeking as they plan for next season.

Club CEO Giorgio Furlani is understood to have opened dialogue with Lazio president Claudio Lotito, with the Rossoneri aiming to move early to fend off potential competition.
While nothing will be finalised before the end of the current campaign, the expectation is that negotiations will continue in the coming months with a view to completing the transfer in the summer window.
Lazio, for their part, are aware of the growing interest and would command a significant fee for a player who has become an important part of their defensive rotation.
An added wrinkle in the deal is Real Madrid’s sell-on clause.

The Spanish giants are entitled to 50% of any future transfer fee, meaning half of the agreed sum would go back to the club where Gila developed.
That factor could influence Lazio’s stance in negotiations, as they look to maximise their return.
For Milan, though, the message is clear: defensive reinforcements are coming, and Gila is firmly on the shortlist.
