The Coppa Italia semi finals continued on Wednesday night as Milan and Inter played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their tie.
Scorers: Abraham 47' ; Çalhanoğlu 67'
It was a relatively quiet first half at the San Siro with neither side able to break the deadlock.
Mike Maignan was the hero for Milan in the first 45 minutes as he made crucial stops to deny Joaquin Correa, Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Davide Frattesi.
Milan then carved out a chance of their own through Rafael Leão, who charged forward and drilled a shot at goal, but his effort was saved by Inter goalkeeper Josep Martínez.
Tammy Abraham finally opened the scoring early in the second half with a strike into the bottom corner to give Milan a much-needed lead.
Inter had a response, however, as Çalhanoğlu put them back on level terms 20 minutes later with a strike from 20 yards out.
If Maignan's heroics in the first half weren't enough, he produced another big moment in the final 10 minutes as he smothered a dangerous attempt from Inter's Nicola Zalewski.
Both sides have work to do ahead of the second leg later this month, with a spot in the final against either Bologna or Empoli on the line.
