Milan have been working on signing Samuele Ricci for a few years and will try again in the summer, but have identified a possible cheaper alternative should Torino continue to drive a hard bargain: Venezia’s Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, Calciomercato relays.
The Juventus product will stay in Serie A even if his side gets relegated. He’ll be redeemed for €3.5M, as his option to buy wasn’t tied to his team’s result. The Bianconeri could cash in further €3M in add-ons. He has notched four goals and three assists this campaign. He spent the past one in Turin as a deep reserve, making 10 appearances, while he previously played for Salernitana in the top flight and Sudtirol and Perugia in Serie B.
Venezia director Filippo Antonelli suggested they’d be open for business on Nicolussi Caviglia speaking during the ADICOSP’s Gran Galà (via Mediaset).
“He’s growing, like many of our players, in a context where we like to valorize youngsters. He’s a serious guy and has proven his worth. We’ll see what will happen on the transfer market at the end of the season.”
As for Ricci, the Rossoneri are very keen, but they don’t want to spend more than €25/30M. Instead, Torino believe a possible international bidding war will bring his price tag to €40M.
They’ll need a proper ‘regista’ if they switch to a three-man midfield, also to unburden Youssouf Fofana, and both would be fine choices. The Venezia man wouldn’t be so pricey that he’d need to be a staple, giving them some flexibility. All the tactical considerations hinge on whom they’ll choose to fill their dugout.
