Inter Milan and AC Milan are still aiming to build a new stadium in the San Siro area.

The clubs’ plan is to build a stadium adjacent to the iconic structure currently standing in the area.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have been trying to build a new stadium for many years now. Doing so would be a major priority for modernizing their infrastructure and increasing revenues.

Now, the big question looks to be when the clubs can get started.

Inter and Milan have already submitted their project to the city of Milan.

Therefore, what’s necessary now is authorization for the two clubs to begin construction.

One question would be whether there needs to be a lengthy land reclamation process before the clubs can begin work on the new stadium.

Milan Mayor Beppe Sala, for his part, stated that “it would seem no land reclamation is necessary.”

The Mayor stressed taking things “one step at a time.”

“But that’s what the initial analysis leads us to think.”

“As far as land reclamation goes, as I’ve said a thousand times, I was not negative,” Sala explained.

“Because these are not naturally contaminated lands. That also helps.”

“There are still a few weeks to go before the summer break,” said the Milan Mayor. “So I still think that we’ll be able to proceed.”
