Saturday’s reports claim that Milan are set to meet with departing Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner to discuss their vacant managerial position, but the Matthias Jaissle proposal is beginning to fade away due to compensation costs.

Glasner possibility for Milan

Milan parted company with head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani the day after the 2025-26 Serie A season ended and are now looking to appoint a brand new senior management team for the 2026-27 campaign.

Ralf Rangnick is hotly tipped to take over the sporting department of the club and is expected to have a say on the appointment of the next head coach.

Several names had been linked with Milan but have already begun to look improbable, including the appointments of Andoni Iraola and Xavi. Recent reports claimed that Rangnick was keen to appoint 38-year-old Jaissle, but luring him away from Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League is expected to cost a minimum of €6m before salaries and signing bonuses are factored in.

Now, according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the latest name on the Rossoneri radar is Glasner, who is available following his departure from Crystal Palace.

The Austrian head coach won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021-22 and went on to win three trophies while in charge of Crystal Palace: The FA Cup, the Community Shield and the most recent Conference League.

Glasner is one of a long list of German-speaking coaches who have been ‘mentored’ by Rangnick; the pair having worked together at RB Salzburg in 2012.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have set a meeting with Glasner early next week, after the Champions League final this weekend.

Saturday’s report adds that Manu Fajardo is the latest name under consideration for the Rossoneri sporting director role. Villarreal’s Jorge Rodriguez has also been mentioned as a potential option.
