Only Coventry City and Middlesbrough have spent more time than Stoke in the top two of the Championship this season. Yet, whilst the Sky Blues have clinched the league title and Boro took their automatic promotion contention to the final day, the Potters have once again finished in the bottom half.

For the tenth year in a row, Stoke have been resigned to finishing in the lower half of whichever division they have been in, capping off a miserable decade for the club.

Yet, there is no time to feel sorry for yourself in this sport, as the only thing the Potters and manager Robins can do is get back up on the horse and go again, as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window.

It's likely to be another busy summer of incomings and outgoings at the bet365 Stadium, as one of the club's star players could well be on their way to the Premier League to this year's second-tier champions.

How much Million Manhoef earns at Stoke City amid Coventry City links

Dutch winger Million Manhoef joined Stoke in January 2024 from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for around £3.4 million, and has had a mixed time in the Potteries since his arrival.

Clearly possessing talent in abundance, Manhoef has often struggled to take games by the scruff of its neck and failed to reach similar heights to teammate Sorba Thomas from the other flank.

Despite this, the 24-year-old has been an almost ever-present under each of Steven Schumacher, Narcis Pelach, and Mark Robins since his arrival, with his dribbling ability down the right flank second to none in the current Potters side, and among the very best in the Championship.

This has led to him being linked with the likes of Coventry, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Dutch giants Ajax ahead of a potential move this summer, as per TEAMtalk, as Manhoef could well take the next step in his career sooner rather than later.

Any sale would almost certainly have to eclipse the £3.4 million Stoke paid for him two-and-a-half years ago, and with him entering the final year of his current deal in North Staffordshire and showing no indication of penning a new one, it looks increasingly likely he won't be a Stoke player beyond this upcoming summer.

With the likes of Coventry lurking, their influx of Premier League money would surely mean they would have no problem in affording his £12.5k per week wages, as estimated by Capology.

Of course, Manhoef will likely be looking to see an increase in his wages in any instance of a move to Coventry, but would almost certainly jump at the chance of the prospect of playing top-flight football for the Sky Blues next campaign.

With one year remaining on his current deal and unlikely to demand ridiculous wages, Manhoef could be a bargain for anyone who decides to take a punt on him this summer.

Million Manhoef would provide added depth for Frank Lampard at Coventry City

As they head into the Premier League, Lampard will be preparing his Coventry squad for the upcoming campaign and will be beginning to get an idea of who will be sticking around and who will be moving on.

Romain Esse and Min-Hyeok Yang will be returning to their parent clubs from their loan spells, leaving Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Ephron Mason-Clark, and Jahnoah Markelo as the only other options from out wide.

Markelo, in particular, has barely featured since his £4.3 million switch from FC Zurich, having also attracted interest from Portsmouth, and whether he is ready to make the jump to the top-flight remains to be seen.

Manhoef is best off the right, and stylistically, isn't too dissimilar from Sakamoto. Whether the Dutchman would be an upgrade on the Japanese international remains to be seen, as Lampard begins to go through his shortlist in pursuit of targets.
