LaLiga’s run-in is tight and every place carries serious money. Sevilla, after a season on the brink, reach the final two rounds with relegation and Europe both still possible.
As reported by as.com, TV income under Real Decreto Ley 5/2015 is pivotal. The last Primera split was €1.292bn, half shared equally and 25 percent, €323m, by league position. Barcelona took 17 percent, €54.91m, Real Madrid 15 percent, €48.45m, and the bottom club a quarter percent, about €810,000, a €54m gap.
Another c. €323m is tied to social metrics, one third each for gates and season tickets, audience figures, and broadcaster collaborations.
Placement also governs the Supercopa and Europe. With second secured, Real Madrid are assured of the Spanish Supercopa, worth about €10m. Champions League entry guarantees at least €18.62m, league phase wins pay €2,100,000 and draws €700,000, with €11m for the last 16 rising to €18.5m for reaching the final.
Europa League entry is worth €4,310,000 and the Conference League €3,170,000, plus extra for wins and progress. Losing that recurring income has already hit Valencia and Sevilla.
Even at the bottom the stakes bite. Finishing second-bottom instead of bottom can be worth €800,000, vital when relegation means about €20m less in TV money next season despite parachute support. That sum could fund the minimum wages of eight players or a leading salary.
