Celtic made it two wins out of their first two Scottish Premiership fixtures after strolling to a 2-0 victory at Pittodrie over a powderpuff Aberdeen side who remain goalless and pointless after losing to Hearts then Celtic.

Much has been said of our own lack of firepower, but our hosts looked a pale imitation of the side who started the last campaign so brightly.

As for ourselves Adam Idah continues to frustrate, Daizen Maeda has still to pick up on last season’s blistering form, and James Forrest was his usual bright self without looking like a goal threat, so it was left to our two central midfielders Benjamin Nygren and Reo Hatate to provide the cutting edge.

Benji scored the all important opener in the 27th minute after a wonderful assist from Kieran Tierney, and Reo Hatate wrapped up the points thanks to a stunning effort midway through the second half. It really was a sublime effort and an early candidate for goal of the season.

It wasn’t the best of performances but it was competent and controlled. The three points is all that matters as Celtic open a six point lead over Aberdeen and a four points lead over theRangers.

But it was pretty evident yet again that we are crying out for extra reinforcements in the final third. Neither Kyogo or Nicolas Kuhn have been replaced and once again as Kieran Tierney’s minutes were managed by Brendan Rodgers we ended up with Liam Scales at left back.

The sun was shining on the Celtic supporters at Pittodrie and we were in fine voice throughout backing the team from start to finish.

With theRangers opting to postpone their next game to aid their European aspirations, Celtic can open up a seven points advantage with a victory over newly promoted Livingston at Celtic Park. Then we can go to Ibrox looking to make it ten clear before the transfer window closes.

Next up though is Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup on Friday night at Paradise. See you there!

Well done today Celtic, a win at Pittodrie is always significant.
