Fabian Hürzeler's high-flying Brighton continue to push the Premier League elite during his first season on the south coast as Brighton took the lead against Southampton this evening.
The German managerial prodigy has guided the Seagulls into the top four coming into the weekend and had Japanese star Kaoru Mitoma to thank for their first-half lead at the Amex, though Southampton battled back to pull level at one-all in the second half.
A diving header by the 27-year-old winger gave Brighton a deserved one-goal lead in the 29th minute, putting him on three league goals for the 2024-25 campaign.
With that, Mitoma reached a personal milestone in the process, banking his 30th goal involvement for the club since his debut season in 2022-23 after a brilliant loan spell with sleeping Belgian giant Union Saint-Gilloise.
Mitoma's legacy is already cemented in Japanese footballing lore as well, sitting clear of every one of his compatriots in both goals and assists in the Premier League.
He's still got it.
