As of today, AC Milan’s loanees have returned from their respective clubs, and whilst the mission to get them back off the books again can officially start today, the proposed ideas have been in the works for some time.

July 1 signifies several things. Of course, the start of the summer mercato is the top, and the most interesting one, but it is also the first day of the contractual year- given contracts normally end on June 30.

This is the case with club contracts and loan contracts, and whilst Milan are already looking to dip into the free agent mercato, they are also looking to offset some of the players who have returned following the conclusion of their respective loan deals.

As Milan News writes, five players have returned, and for two, the road is closed. Fode Ballo Toure and Divock Origi do not have a future at the club, and if there is no interest in them by the end of the summer, the Rossoneri will proceed with the extreme option, their contracts will be terminated.

However, there are three returns that the Diavolo will look to cash in on; Alexis Saelemaekers, Daniel Maldini and Lorenzo Colombo. The Belgian winger is, without a doubt, the favourite to leave for a good price, and Maldini could also earn the club some welcomed funds. In Colombo’s case, the situation is not so clear, and he could depart on loan once more.
