Borussia Mönchengladbach fans will boycott all food and drink inside RB Leipzig’s stadium on Saturday, a protest against the economic model of the club founded by the Red Bull group.
According to L'Équipe, supporter groups issued a statement before the 15:30 kick-off urging no purchases at the Red Bull Arena, covering beer, sausages and other concessions.
Fans say any purchase on site benefits RB Leipzig in some way, so they do not wish to contribute, and are urging supporters to spend not a cent at the Red Bull Arena.
The action, backed by several groups, continues a long-running dispute between sections of Gladbach’s support and Leipzig’s economic model.
In addition, as on every visit to Leipzig, there will be no organised displays for the first 19 minutes of the match. Supporters also plan to whistle when Leipzig have the ball.
While the financial impact may be small, fans intend to send another clear message against what they describe as an artificial product created by Red Bull.
