Liverpool host Brighton at 16:00 in Premier League matchweek 16, and Mohamed Salah is on the bench for the fourth game in a row.

There is one change from the San Siro win, Florian Wirtz returns to the starting XI in place of Alexander Isak. According to L'Équipe, Salah’s status has dominated the build-up.

Salah has been among the substitutes since the 1-1 draw with Sunderland on 3 December.

After the 3-3 against Leeds last Saturday, he told reporters he could not believe the decision and was very disappointed. He said he had given so much to the club, did not understand being benched without explanation, and felt the club had betrayed him.

Arne Slot’s side will try to build on Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League victory at Inter Milan.
