Barcelona are keen to raise funds from various player departures during the upcoming summer transfer window, with various candidates having already been identified. One of them is Marc Casado, who has no future at the Spotify Camp Nou after dropping down the pecking order over the course of Hansi Flick’s tenure.
Casado had been an important figure when Flick first arrived, but he is now fifth in the midfielder pecking order – and that would become sixth in the event that Bernardo Silva joins, which could happen after this summer’s World Cup. As a result, the decision has been made for him to be sold, and the player himself is open to departing, knowing that he needs regular playing time.
In recent weeks, interest has grown in Casado’s services, but one club moved ahead of the chasing pack in their bid to sign him: AS Monaco. The Ligue 1 side, who are also planning to trigger their buy option for Ansu Fati, view the midfielder favourably, which is why they had starting working on his possible incorporation.
However, it has now been reported by MD that Monaco’s interest has come to an end. They are currently exploring other targets at this time, meaning they have no plans to make any offer to Barcelona for the La Masia graduate.

But it’s not all bad news for Barcelona in their bid to offload Casado. The report notes that various clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga are attentive to the situation, while Saudi Arabia also have ambitions to tempt him with a move to the Middle East. The hope is that at least one team makes a serious attempt to get a deal done, and if so, it would be very likely that a transfer is achieved over the summer.
