Ernesto Valverde has named reserve centre-back Monreal at Mestalla, giving him a Copa debut to cover a shortage in central defence.
According to El Correo, the Athletic coach has turned to the academy to solve his selection puzzle at the heart of the back line.

Monreal, recruited from Osasuna, steps up from the B team for this cup fixture.
His inclusion fills a first-team vacancy in the middle of defence for the tie.
