Monza clinched an immediate return to Serie A on Friday after a breathless Serie B play-off final against Catanzaro. According to L'Équipe, the regulations handed promotion to the higher-ranked team once the two-legged final failed to produce a winner.
Paolo Bianco's side won the first leg 2-0, then lost the return 0-2 at home as the aggregate finished level. Fellipe Jack and Ruggero Frosinini scored for Catanzaro in the second leg.

No extra time was scheduled, and Monza had finished third in the regular season, with Catanzaro fifth.
It is Monza's second promotion to Serie A in four years, following the 2022 success against Pisa.
The club had even dreamed of Europe during their first spell in the top flight, before going down last year.
