Alvaro Morata quickly left Milan just six months after joining, although he’ll be under contract with them until Galatasaray exercise their option to buy, which could happen next January or in June 2026.
The striker mused on last summer and his future to El Larguero and Cadena Ser (via Calciomercato).
“I think I should have reflected more about leaving Atletico Madrid. When you don’t feel well at a certain moment of your life, you tend to make wrong decisions. You can’t go back, and I’m happy now. I probably wouldn’t do it again. I realize now that I couldn’t see the reality. We won the European Championship, and there were more and more people who loved me and understood me within the Colchoneros.”
Morata addressed his Milan switch.
“In rough times, you tend to see things under a grey light. I was bothered by that I those months, then the opportunity to join the Rossoneri emerged. Paulo Fonseca was calling me every day, and I needed to feel loved and appreciated. However, I eventually figured out that Diego Simeone was fond of me too. My father and my agent told me I was wrong at the time.”
Morata is enjoying his time at Galatasaray.
“I’d like to stay here long-term, but they must want that too. I’m happy, as they treat me well and with affection. At this stage, I’m here until next January and also have a contract with Milan. I fit in well. I don’t know what the future holds. Maybe I’ll have the opportunity join a top team that needs an experienced striker.”
