More than 890 arrests after PSG Champions League win, one man dies in Seine | OneFootball

Interior minister Laurent Nuñez said on Monday that more than 890 people were arrested across France over the weekend following PSG’s Champions League triumph, with 178 police and gendarmes injured. He said the total was up more than 45% on 2025.

In Paris, celebrations were marred by disorder. According to Le Parisien, a man was pulled from the Seine at about 7am on Sunday and died after resuscitation efforts failed.

In the fifth arrondissement, witnesses said another man jumped deliberately into the river before sinking, the prosecutor’s office said. He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Nuñez rejected suggestions of denial in the face of violence, saying public order services acted to halt offences throughout the two days.

President Emmanuel Macron condemned what he described as unacceptable violence in Paris and other cities after Saturday night’s final in Budapest. He praised the police and gendarmes and said those detained would face a hard line.

After PSG’s first Champions League victory in 2025, 592 people were arrested, including 491 in Paris.
