Mo Salah has claimed yet another Premier League record after the Liverpool star registered his latest assist for the club.
The Egyptian winger has been in conflict with the Merseyside outfit since giving some explosive comments to the media last week, in which he complained about losing his place in the starting lineup and being “thrown under the bus” by the club.
After leaving him out of the squad for the midweek win over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League, Arne Slot held talks with the player and subsequently named him in the squad for Saturday’s meeting with Brighton.
Salah’s future still remains up in the air ahead of the January transfer window, but if this was his last game for Liverpool, then he went out with one final contribution to the team.
Introduced in the 26th minute following an injury to Joe Gomez, the 33-year-old provided the assist for Hugo Ekitike’s second goal from a corner, helping the Reds secure a 2-0 win at Anfield.
It was Salah’s 89th assist for Liverpool in the top flight and his 277th goal involvement, putting him ahead of former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney for most goal contributions with one club in Premier League history.
It’s a remarkable record, particularly when you consider Salah has taken just over eight years to break it, surpassing some legendary players such as Thierry Henry and Harry Kane.
