Manchester United continue to work on the “future”, as per Fabrizio Romano.

For yet another summer, United decided against properly addressing the glaring issues in the middle of the park.

Under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim last term, the Red Devils struggled to keep hold of the ball with any reliable consistency owing to lack of technically proficient midfielders in their ranks.

Manchester United overlooked Amorim’s midfield

Ineos only seriously looked at signing a new midfielder in the summer after acquiring three high-profile forwards. Carlos Baleba emerged as their preferred midfield target, but Brighton & Hove Albion rebuffed their approach.

Accordingly, United wrapped up their summer transfer business without the addition of a senior midfielder. However, they have prioritised strengthening the area at youth level.

Recently, Romano claimed United have “sealed and signed deal” to bring Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco to Old Trafford. The Premier League giants have agreed to pay £750k to Fortaleza for their 17-year-old gem.

Now, the transfer guru reveals that United are trying to sign another midfield prodigy.

Man United want to sign Mouhamed Dabo

According to the Italian journalist, United are “working on the formal steps” to complete the signing of Mouhamed Dabo.

In September, it emerged that the 17-year-old Senegalese spent a few weeks training at Carrington.

It is now being reported that United have been left impressed with his trial. However, several things still need to be finalised to “get the green light” and secure Dabo’s services.

Known for his technical ability and progressive passing, Dabo currently plays for Be Sport Academy and is the captain of Senegal Under-17s.

Barcelona have also been strongly linked with Dabo, who trained at their fabled academy, La Masia. But it has been previously suggested that United are in pole position to sign the dynamic midfielder.
