Arsenal gem Max Dowman broke records last night, becoming the youngest ever player to feature in the Champions League. He came on to replace Jurrien Timber at the tender age of 15 years and 308 days.

The previous record belonged to Borussia Dortmund gem Youssoufa Moukoko, who made his debut at 16 years and 18 days. Barcelona gem Lamine Yamal made his debut in the continental competition at 16 years and 68 days.

According to SPORT, Dowman’s achievement pushes Lamine from second to third in the standings for the youngest ever to feature in Europe’s biggest competition. The 15-year-old has been making waves, also impressing in the Premier League for Arsenal.

The Gunners have been in sensational form so far this season. They seem incapable of conceding a single goal, keeping clean sheets for fun. With youngsters like Max Dowman and Nwaneri breaking through, they are in good shape for the future.

As for Lamine, such records may be eclipsed, but he is arguably the best 16-year-old football has seen so far. His performances at 16 and 17 have caught attention worldwide and earned him two consecutive top ten Ballon d’Or finishes.

Lamine is currently nursing a pubalgia injury and is not at full fitness. This is hampering his effectiveness on the pitch. However, he continues to be one of the most feared wingers in the world.

Records are meant to be broken, and it is time for the Barcelona wonderkid to start setting some new ones in the coming seasons.
