Mourinho identifies five positions ‘to reinforce’ at Benfica | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, José Mourinho and Benfica have begun planning for 2026/27, identifying five positions that need strengthening in the summer window.

The hierarchy want him to continue, despite interest from Real Madrid, and planning with the coach is ongoing.

Among those needs, Braga midfielder Rodrigo Zalazar is seen as the leading target for the most creative role, playing behind the striker. The club have already taken steps in that direction.

Benfica also aim to add at least one centre-back, potentially two if Nicolás Otamendi does not renew, plus a midfielder to partner Fredrik Aursnes, a left winger for depth, and a forward with different attributes.

Further additions may depend on outgoings, with the approach focused on balancing the squad and refining options for the new campaign.
