Ukraine head coach Serhiy Rebrov has urged game time for Georgiy Sudakov at Benfica as the midfielder deals with a back problem.

"I cannot phone Mourinho and say that we need him to play in the league to be well prepared for the national team. I can only wish Georgiy to keep working. I told him that if they do not let him play 90 minutes, he should play for the B team, if that is possible. Playing is very important for all of our players." He told Futebol 360.

Sudakov has barely featured for Benfica recently because of a back issue. He has not played since 17 February and has not started since 1 February. He wears the club’s No 10.

Ukraine, who also include Trubin, face Sweden on 26 March in the World Cup 2026 play-off semi-final. If they win, Rebrov’s side will meet the winner of Poland against Albania.

This season for Benfica, Sudakov has made 33 appearances, 18 in the Liga Portugal Betclic, nine in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal and two in the Taça da Liga. Across 2,268 minutes he has four goals and five assists.
