Joaquin Panichelli came on at half-time and struck twice to deliver an unlikely Strasbourg win, becoming Ligue 1’s leading scorer. Dehmaine Tabibou impressed for Nantes and scored, yet it was not enough.
Tabibou drove in a crisp finish on six minutes from the right. According to L'Équipe, Lucas Högsberg had already allowed him inside, a sign of a difficult night at left-back.
Maxi Oyedele levelled at 45+2 with a high-class solo effort after a shaky start to his first start of the season. Soon after the restart, Matthis Abline burned past Högsberg to make it 2-1 on 53, moments after Panichelli had lost the ball. Panichelli volleyed under the bar on 78, then slid in the winner on 90+2.
Panichelli was rated 8/10. Tabibou, 20, earned 7/10 and later switched flanks before making way for Louis Leroux on 81.
Oyedele received 6/10 and capped a combative display with his goal. Högsberg was given 2/10 after being beaten for both Nantes goals.
David Datro Fofana, deputising for Panichelli, managed only 16 touches and no chances, then was replaced at the break, earning 3/10. Abline remained threatening despite waste, creating for Tabibou on the opener and feeding Mohamed Kaba on 18.
Kaba struggled and shot against Penders from a prime position on 18. Tylel Tati, 17, looked rusty after a lay-off since 25 January, especially in duels. Sebastian Nanasi started as the No 10 but did not seize his chance.
